What do you do if your search engine listings get Hijacked?

This is something i never really talked about but relevant to seo and search engine optimization. It deals with a common answer to a question you may some day need the answer to or you may already have or someday will find yourself in this situation, as a websmaster or website owner or anyone that published something on the web.

You wake up one morning, do your usual routine and you happen to notice that your website's url has changed in the search listings. Curious, you click the link which seems to be your websites exact title, description and for some reason a different url, and the link you click take you to something that looks like your website, but chopped up or completely the same with your exact meta tags on the page. Your search listing no longer takes you to your site but takes you to some other site, so what now?

Well an initial reaction would be to panic, why? Well because your search listings have just been stolen, when this first happen to me i had thought that my url had been hijacked, but after going to my site and seeing it intact, i soon realized someone had copied my exact page, and their page upon being indexed wiped my page out of the search engines index. So now what do you do?

Well theres a couple of things you can try to do. You can contact the search engine and notify them about the situation. They seem to get the situation straightened out very fast if you contact them. You can also contact the owner of the website, sometimes chances are someone made a mistake, while copying an article for example, and they accidently use your meta info. In this case you can contact them and if it was a mistake you can be sure they will remove the page. Other times its done completely intentional.

When its done intentionally, to tell you the truth it just pisses me off. People put alot of work into things they do and some people could care less, for greed or what have you. For example, a seasoned webmaster will usually know the top 10 websites listed in their favorite search engine for their sites main search term. Now if they have been their for years, and all of a sudden they see a new website potentially taking their traffic, because they have a better product or just feel threatened im sure more often then not someone does something to knock a site back down, even if its only temporary.

Now i could be completely wrong, but to tell you the truth, there isnt anything stopping anyone from doing it. So i know i havent done it, but im wondering how many people, and companies have done stuff like that to their competition. Because really if they cant prove they did it, then they really cant go around saying so and so did this. Corruption on the web is something i think is neglected, there is still no one to watch over everything, and there cant be either because their is just to many to watch and its ever increasing.

The webs changed alot since the days it was considered the wild west, but in many ways the pure nature of the web is to continue in that state, in many aspects it still is the wild west, its just not as wild as it was 10 years ago. There continues to be new booms such as myspace and youtube and an ever increasing internet audience. As more competition floods the various markets it opens up a stronger need for improvement on current and future product, customer service and usability. More competition means less potential new sales in the short run, mainly because of the stiff competition, but in the long run those that continue improving their product through innovation and most of all common sense will ultimatley be the ones that capture the majority of a market and thrive.

Getting your url hijacked or search engine listed hijacked sucks. It happens, but before you over react, just relax and think it through logically. This is a situation that you can get taken care off, if it does happen to you. It could be months before your listings come back, but eventually they will, and other than thats theres nothing you can really do about it, but wait.

Looking for 2 "teamates" for the seo world championship

The SEO world championship is starting January 15, 2007. I am looking for 2 people for 3 way link exchanging throughout the contest. Anyone interested just contact me. Looking for people who want to join together and possibly split prizes or team up in another way also. The prisez are goint to be big so they are definatley splitable.

If interested just let me know.

Cpayscom2 online casino and other unorthodox advertising techniques

Cpayscom2 online casino is a seo contest which happens to turn out to be a very effective and unorthodox advertising technique. Other weird advertising tactics include purchasing things that the media swarms to like when goldenpalace bought the virgin mary toast, i mean that was pretty rediculous...no? When tenthousandblocks offered ad space on a broken toaster which seems to be a small precurser of thing to follow such as Bidmyspace.com, where you can advertise all over this guys house.

New and unique advertising and marketing methods are coming into play all the time and best ones are the ones that make you laugh, because then you remember them and tell people. Even commercial advertising on tv, lately the past few years the commercials are turning into little comedy bits and mini sitcoms.

It's funny what people will do for a buck.

Just look at me blogging about this stupid cpayscom2 online casino crap.

SEO, pixels and the never ending need for a plug

2006 comes to close within a week, with that said Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to all. In the begining of 06 it was all pixels and pixel ads too, as that has much cooled down now the seo contests are still running stong and overall tripled the amount than of the previous year. The outlook for seo contests in 2007 is good, while pixels not so good. The first contest i entered was "the four required words" seo contest in which i did well in yahoo, also used pixel ads. I think i might bring the pixel ad trick back for the SEO world championship and sandbox the site for the first 2 and half months. Nah, who know, will have to register a new domain name though, now about the time for a plug. Cpayscom2 online casino is king of all cpayscom2's and there is alot of those online casino's around.

I remember back in the pixel hottness a site i once blogged about PixelBannerSwap.com, this in my opinion is where pixel ads are headed. You can target the pixel ads, put a pixel banner on your site or blog like the one on top of here. You could even buy your own banner and sell pixels from it and manage it, pixel banner swap takes care of hosting the pixel banner. Its a good concept around the fact that a pixel ad grid is better as a small accessory on a niche website than as itself a nich website. If the content is already there and the traffic and people are going to the site than it really cant hurt to put a small banner of targeted ads on your site which you could profit from, or gain more traffic from or what have you. See, the main problem with pixel websites built for that sole purpose is that there is nothing that draws attention in, or if it is, than it need to be created and still after a while traffic slowly dips to its steady point and unless your the million dollar homepage or tenthousandblocks.com (haha)(yeah..um..ok) you have to do silly things which sometimes are fun. Point being PixelBannerSwap.com has alot to offer if you have a few extra minutes of your time and a small open space on your website. Oh yeah and the pixels are free. The site also changed ownership and is undergoing some retooling and should be ready for full action soon.

Other than that have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday and Cpayscom2 online casino like you cant cpayscom2 online casino no mo. Poker supply has poker supplies

Pixelotto is good but it could be better

The ideas and concepts behind Pixelotto.com are better than the Million dollar Homepage this it true, but are they good enough? The site Pixelotto.com is already bringing up a ton of questions of whether or not its actually worth advertising there. Depending on who you talk to your answer will vary greatly from what i have been reading on other blog posts.

All this talk of conversion rates and garbage traffic has me thinking of the kinds of marketers and advertisers that are out there and what they prefer to do. Mainly i have seen 2 types of marketers, some only want highly targeted traffic, that converts like mad, these types would rather have 25 visitors a month and 10 sales than 1,000 visitors a month and 12 sales. They would say to you...yeah you got more sales but my conversion rate is better, so you suck. They are simply married to a conversion rate. The other type like me, will just fire all types of traffic at a site, having both highly targeted traffic and less convention advertising like pixel ads say, or traffic exchanges. Knowing alot of the traffic will in fact wash off, but also knowing that some of that traffic will in fact stick and lead to sales. I know this because i have done it, to me sales are sales and clicks are clicks. The more places you can access me site from the better is how i feel.

Thats basically one of the reasons i chose to advertise on Pixelotto, i mean do you think i dont know that some of that traffic will wash off, of course i do. But the difference is that i dont care and i expect if some washes off...good, better to have washed off than to never have been there at all. So thats my take on traffic conversion, id rather be updating a site than looking at numbers, you can that for the birds.

Now back to Pixelotto, i think with all the time Alex had to plan it, it should have been better. Also where is this eBook he spoke of that he was supposedly making? I guess that just went out the window, but anyway with all of the ideas that the original homepage sparked youd think he might have looked into more of the copycat sites to come up with his next one, or maybe he did, i dont know.

Couple of things i think could have been added to his site Pixelotto to make it better:

1. An affiliate program - you have all these advertisers and marketers advertising on your site, why not have an affiliate program for them so it could drive in more traffic and advertisers. Or something more for advertisers as they are not in the running for $1,000,000. Shit a free gift anything..thats a lot of money at $200 a block there buddy. Maybe weekly prizes would have been better to sustain traffic.

2. More of an incentive to advertisers than blind clicks, i think the page needs to find a way to target the ads someway effectively.

3. More publicity: i only found it because i happen to goto the MillionDollar Homepage, if i hadnt went i wouldnt have known it exists.

Just my little input, but what do i know. I did buy an ad, and so far have noticed increased numbers accross the board, including revenue. The main age demographic im getting clicking on my ad is between the ages of 18 - 36, so far out of the clicks i have received about half came from players of the game and other half just from visitors on the homepage. So far its averaging about 15 - 20 clicks a day on 1 10x10 pixel ad. If that kep up for less than a year say 300 days that would be about 4500 - 6000 clicks for the year. If you were talking 10 cents a click that would cost $450 - 600 dollars if you were advertising through ppc like adwords, it would also be targeted. So that sounds about right, $200 for 4500 - 6000 untargeted visitors to your website versus $450 - $600 for targeted visitors from ppc for the year.

Seems like Alex is just selling traffic through pixels, because no one really wants the pixels they want the traffic. So what you would do now is track that traffic to figure out what converts better, then you could figure out how to get the most bang for your $. Of course thats just an example of a 1 block ad, bigger ads to lead to more traffic, remember i only have a 1 block ad, 100 pixels.

So after seeing it like that, i will be satisfied with my purchase and am so far, Alex has now $136,300 in the prize pool, which means he actually sold 2x that amount. Im gonna buy more, just waiting a week. Well see.

Thats all for now, if i forgot anything i wanted to say i will say it later. Oh yeah i almost forgot, if you have read this thanks, you can get $20 in free clicks from bidvertiser simply visit tenthousandblocks.com/bonus.php and follow the link.

Pixelotto at Pixelotto.com

The Pixels are back! As you may or may not remember this blog was basically birthed from the pixel ad idea that Alex Tew started. "the four required words" blog was a seo contest entry in "the four required words" seo contest held by Milliondollarscreenshot.com. By that time all of Alex's pixels had well been sold and I did not have a chance to get any for Tenthousandblocks.com, and i would have like to have at least 1 block...but oh well.

Well Alex Tew creator of the original Milliondollarhomepage.com has come out with a new pixel ad site in which he will be giving away $1,000,000 a million dollars, Pixelotto.com. You can sign up to visit the sites for entries into Pixelotto. When all of the pixels are sold a lucky winner will receive $1,000,000 one million dollars.

That means guaranteed traffic for advertisers, and with contestants only allowed to click 10 sites a day (which they can do in a very short period of time). And after checking to see how many entries they have gathered im sure more than a few have went back to the homepage to look and click some more pixel ads.

Now some are saying this is not converting traffic, in a way its true, but the same is true with all types of traffic. There is always a % of non converting traffic in any form of advertising you do. So that the non converting part are presumably when a Pixelotto.com contestant clicks your ad and continues to another ad. But what if they actually like your ad and will go back to it later? There is no software program to track human behavior in that fashion so you cant say that the traffic is bad or non converting, when in fact you dont really know what people are doing only assuming. I am currently ineligable to win a prize because i am an advertiser, but that didnt stop my from viewing the page and clicking on about 50 ads. Some of which i have actually bookmarked, because companies design specials for Pixelotto visitors, so thats a bonus.

So, i had to see for myself and got in early at Pixelotto. 1 block bought so for for the first round. There is going to be multiple rounds maybe, which can be costly to an advertiser at $200 a block per round. So if you would like to get in cheap, you can get you pixel ad on Tenthousandblocks.com for the next few years and possibly few rounds of Pixelotto.

Overall, Pixelotto is a much better idea and concept which directly gets the visitors involved with the website in a unique way by giving away something everyone seems to want right now $1,000,000 one million dollars. Pixelotto.com builds directly off where the Milliondollarhomepage.com left off. Even if all the pixels dont sell, the year of clicks will be well worth it.

Like always, time will tell. See if you can find the T on Pixelotto that we used for our pixel ad. The exact pixel ad we used is mentioned on the blog at Tenthousandblocks.com/news.php with a picture to help you out if you need it.

The Pixelotto prize fund is now up to $130,400. Goto Pixelotto.com
